Warning signs

How to know you need us

Recognize one? Have it looked at before it grows.

  • A garage or basement you have stopped being able to use
  • Furniture the trash service will not take
  • An appliance that needs two people and a dolly
  • A property to clear before a sale or a closing
  • Renovation debris sitting in the yard
  • A hot tub, shed or playset nobody uses any more

Your options

More than one right answer.

Sometimes a truck and two people is right; sometimes a dumpster in the drive for a week costs less. These are the choices, with the trade-offs.

Full-service removal

You point, we carry. Nothing needs moving to the curb and nothing needs sorting first.

Single item pickup

One sofa, one mattress, one fridge. Priced as a single item rather than as a minimum load.

Whole-property cleanout

Estates, evictions and pre-sale clearances handled to your instructions, discreetly and on your timeline.

Labor only

We load the dumpster or trailer you already have, which is often the cheapest route on a large renovation.

What it costs

What actually drives the price.

A haul is priced by how much of the truck it fills, what is in it and how far it has to be carried, so we look before we name a number. Here is what changes the total.

  • Volume, by truck space

Priced by how much of the truck the load fills rather than by weight or item count, which is why a photo or a quick look gives you a real number.

  • Labor and access

A pile in the driveway is quick. The same volume in a basement, an attic or the back of a crawl space is a different job.

  • Item type

Mattresses, tires, paint, electronics and appliances with refrigerant carry disposal fees because the facilities charge for them.

  • Dismantling

Hot tubs, sheds, playsets and above-ground pools have to be taken apart before they can be loaded, and that is most of the time on those jobs.

  • Disposal route

Donation and recycling take longer than a single trip to the landfill and cost us more time. We would still rather do it that way.

Estimates are free, written and without obligation. Anything found only after starting is priced up front.

What happens

From your call to the finished job.

  1. Photos or a quick look

Most jobs can be quoted from photographs. Larger clearances are worth a five-minute visit so the number holds.

  2. Written price before we load

You get the price with the truck in the driveway and nothing is touched until you agree it.

  3. The haul

Most residential jobs are the same visit. Whole-property clearances run to a day or two.

  4. Sweep and disposal

The space swept before we leave, and the load sorted for donation and recycling rather than tipped whole.

Done badly

What goes wrong, and why it matters.

Shortcuts that cheapen the quote and cost you later. Ask anyone you are considering about them.

  • Quoting by item count over the phone

Volume is what fills a truck. An item count is how a price changes in your driveway.

  • Tipping everything

A large share of a normal clearance is donatable or recyclable, and sending it all to landfill is the lazy route rather than the cheap one.

  • Ignoring what is inside the appliance

Refrigerant has to be recovered by someone certified. It is not legal to simply crush a fridge.

  • Loading a floor that will not take it

Concentrating a heavy load in one spot on an old floor or a deck is how a clearance becomes a repair.

Before you hire anyone

Six questions worth asking any junk removal service.

Including us. If a junk removal service cannot answer these easily, that is the answer.

  1. Is the price quoted before anything goes on the truck?

Yes, from looking at the load, in writing. A price that appears once the truck is half full is whatever they can get.

  2. Is the price by the load, and what counts as a full load?

A stated fraction of a named truck size. Two companies quoting “a load” with different trucks are not quoting the same thing.

  3. Where does it go — landfill, donation, recycling?

Licensed facilities for disposal, and a real donation and recycling practice for what should not be landfilled. The answer should name them.

  4. Are there surcharges for stairs, the attic or heavy items?

Named up front, if they exist. Carrying from the basement is the job; a surcharge sprung at the end is the complaint.

  5. Are you insured for damage carrying things out of my house?

Liability insurance with a certificate. A sofa through a doorframe is what it is for.

  6. What will you not take?

The honest answer lists it: hazardous materials, certain chemicals, sometimes tires or paint. A company that takes everything is dumping some of it.

FAQ

Choosing a junk removal service in Nashville

How do I choose a junk removal service in Nashville?

Every junk crew we run carries liability insurance on file with us and disposes of what it takes at licensed facilities, with a donation and recycling practice we can describe. Ask the six questions below of anyone, including us.

Should I get more than one quote for junk removal?

Yes — and compare the scope, not the total. Junk removal in Nashville is priced by the volume in the truck — a quarter, a half, a full load — with a firm number given on site before anything is loaded; heavy materials like concrete and dirt are priced separately, and the quote says so.

Is the cheapest junk removal quote usually a bad idea?

Not automatically; a low number is information. The number is set before the first item moves.

Do I need a permit for junk removal in Nashville?

Junk removal needs no permit from Metro Nashville and the surrounding counties; a dumpster on the street does in most jurisdictions, and the company placing it gets it.

How far in advance should I book junk removal?

A pickup in Nashville is usually the same or next day; an estate or a whole-house cleanout is scheduled within the week and takes the crew a day or two.
